New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday reconstituted the three-member Delhi Minorities Commission for a period of three years after securing the assent of lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal. The previous panel had completed its tenure earlier this year.

The reconstituted commission will be headed by renowned scholar and journalist Zafarul Islam Khan. Anastasia Gill and Kartar Singh Kochhar will be the other members on the panel. Mr Khan, who has a doctorate in Islamic Studies from Manchester University has worked for several international organisations. Mr Kejriwal approved and recommended the three names after they were proposed by the deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia. The proposal to reconstitute the panel was cleared by Mr Baijal. “As per the provision, the term of the Commission will be for three years,” an official statement said.
