New Delhi: The BJP swings into action to launch a sustained campaign for the 2019 general elections from January 2018. Keeping in view the preparations, a major reshuffle is likely to take place in Delhi unit post Diwali. Sources said that about a dozen non-performing office-bearers would be replaced by new appointees. Office-bearers and the media cell have also been told to come with fresh innovative ideas to publicise the achievements of Modi government.

According to party sources, after the historic mandate in the municipal corporation polls, the Delhi BJP has forgotten the humiliating defeat in Bawana Assembly bypolls and has decided to work for the next general elections to be held in 2019.

Sources claimed that this could be seen as a major reshuffle since two vice-presidents are likely to be changed. However, all the changes is likely to take place after Diwali as party leadership does not want to spoil the festive spirit of any leaders, especially those who are likely to be removed.

“Out of the three general secretaries, two will be replaced. Three secretaries will also be changed,” they claimed. A senior party office bearer said that major reshuffle will take place in the media department as well and party leadership is also likely to remove two or three spokespersons.

“The responsibility of the media department is likely to be given to a new face. Among the nine spokespersons two or three will be removed from the post, in effect those who failed in properly defending the party in media debate and discussion,” he added.
In the meeting it was also decided that Delhi BJP media department must coordinate with party leadership in the three municipal corporations on a day to day basis.
“It came to the notice of the state leadership that there is no coordination between the media department and the civic leadership over publicity,” said a party leader present in the meeting.
