Devise mechanism for women's safety, says Anil Baijal
New Delhi: Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal has directed the officials of the Delhi government to devise a mechanism with active participation of all stakeholders to weed out the menace” of illegal storage and sale of acid in the capital.
Mr Baijal said that the Global Positioning System (GPS) in all public transports was a must and a time line should be drawn to ensure the same.
The said directions were issued on Monday at a meeting of the task force on women’s safety, chaired by the LG.
All the stakeholders concerned should devise mechanisms for analysing the causes of one’s acquittal in sexual assault cases, Mr Baijal’s office stated in a press statement.
Mr Baijal also directed to formulate a procedure with active participation of all the stakeholders for a coordinated approach to weed out the menace of illegal storage and sale of acid,” the statement read.
Mr Baijal further emphasised that all the stakeholders must adopt a focussed and coordinated strategy in a bid to make the national capital a safe city for women, the statement read.
