BJP to guide councillors for better functioning

Separate meetings of all 3 corporations will be called shortly.

New Delhi: Unhappy over the report of failure to deliver civic services and corruption in the party ruled three municipal corporations, the BJP central leadership has decided to meet the councillors to give them clear instructions in order to fulfill people’s expectations. Separate meetings of all the three municipal corporations will be called in shortly.

BJP national vice-president and in-charge of the party’s Delhi unit, Shyam Jaju, told this newspaper that the leadership felt the current civic leadership has failed to do its duty in fulfilling people’s expectations, for which Delhiites gave a historic mandate in the municipal polls held in April.

“We found that our leadership in the three corporations failed to deliver the expectations. So, to guide them to function effectively, we will be calling separate meetings of the corporations,” Mr Jaju added.

As per plan, two meetings each of the three corporations will be called and all the BJP councillors in the three municipal corporations will be attending the first meeting. In the second meeting, the party leadership will be interacting with the top leadership of each corporation.

“In the meeting, all the councillors will be briefed and guided about good governance and how to match people’s expectations by delivering quality services in a corruption free environment,” said Mr Jaju.

He also pointed that the sole purpose of calling the meetings of all the councillors and top leadership is to deliver what BJP has promised in its ‘Sankalp Patra’ ahead of the civic polls.

“We observed that our civic leadership is going slow or has failed to move ahead in fulfilling the promises made in our ‘Sankalp Patra.’ So, they will be given directions to fulfill all the promises. We will also hear the problems they face while implementing these promises and provide them necessary help and guidance,” said the Delhi BJP in-charge.

Mr Jaju claimed that such meetings will be held regularly as the party is committed to provide world class civic facilities to citizens in the national capital. Last month, amid allegations and complaints of irregularities in the functioning of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), Mr Jaju had warned the civic leaders to improve their working or face the bitter consequences.
