Delhi: Inebriated man stabs son to death
New Delhi: A 60-year-old inebriated man allegedly stabbed his son to death in northwest Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy.
The incident happened on Tuesday night after the accused had an argument with his son over the former's drinking habit, police said.
Initial probe in the case has suggested that the elderly man, Chandrika, often consumed alcohol and thrashed his wife.
His son, Gyanu, did not approve of his father's ill-behaviour under the influence of alcohol. They often had fights over the same issue.
On Tuesday at around 8 pm, Chandrika returned home in an inebriated condition. His wife Saraswati and their four children Gyanu, Jugnu, Suraj and Sandhya, and grandson Suraj were present at the house.
A few minutes later, Chandrika started abusing his grandson without any reason.
When Saraswati tried to stop him, Chandrika also abused her.
When the elderly man didn't listen to his wife, Gyanu intervened and objected to his his father's ill-behaviour.
This enraged Chandrika further and he started abusing Gyanu as well. An argument broke out between Chandrika and Gyanu during which Chandrika went to the kitchen, picked up the kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed Gyanu in the chest, police said.
The family members raised an alarm and Gyanu was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The hospital authorities informed police about the murder. Chandrika was later arrested from his house.
"Gyanu suffered a deep stab injury in the right side of his chest. A case of murder was registered against Chandrika and he was arrested," said Milind Dumbere, DCP (Northwest).
