Vendor found dead, body bore 100 stab injuries

The police said the main suspect is his tenant, who lived on the upper floor of the house and is presently absconding.

New Delhi: Three days after a 32-year-old man was found dead inside his house in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri, investigations by the police revealed that the victim's body bore over 100 stab injuries.

The deceased, Umesh Kumar Sahu, was a vegetable vendor from Etah, UP. A few days before his murder, Umesh had gone to Etah with his wife and children, but returned alone on Friday. He was found dead the same night.

The police said the main suspect is his tenant, who lived on the upper floor of the house and is presently absconding. A friend of the victim, Umesh, called the police after finding him in a pool of blood. Umesh died on the spot.Police said that Umesh was staying alone at the ground floor as his wife and two children had gone to UP, the woman's parents' house, for the summer vacation.

The second floor was rented out to a 28-year-old man, who lived with his family. Umesh had returned to Delhi Friday afternoon. At night, when his uncle went to check on him, he found the gate locked from outside, a relative said.When he went in, he found Umesh lying face down in a pool of blood and told the police.

Police said that found Umesh had received a severe head injury. "There were 15-20 visible stab wounds," DCP Aslam Khan said.
