Man found dead at girlfriend's flat
New Delhi: A 23-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his girlfriend’s flat in Dwarka area on Tuesday evening.
The family members of the deceased, Arnav Duggal, alleged that their son has been murdered while his girlfriend claimed that he committed suicide.
The police said that on Tuesday they received a PCR call at 3pm regarding a suicide at a flat in Shakuntalam Apartments in Dwarka Sector 10. A PCR reached the spot and found a body hanging from the ceiling fan of a room in the flat. The body was brought down and the family members of the deceased were informed. The body was shifted to the mortuary for post mortem. No suicide note was recovered from the room.
A senior police official said that in preliminary investigation it has been found that Arnav, who worked at an MNC in Gurgaon and stayed with his family in Patel Nagar area, went for a night out party with several other friends, including his girlfriend on Monday night.
They partied till late and visited several places in Delhi. On the morning of June 13 (Tuesday), he dropped his girlfriend at her place (flat no. 441) in Shakuntalam Apartments and left for his home. However, he returned soon and complained of uneasiness. At this, she asked him to stay back at her flat and take rest. She claimed that they went to sleep in different rooms, but at 3 pm she woke up and went to the room where Arnav was sleeping. There she found him hanging from the ceiling fan. Immediately, she informed the police.
“A forensic team visited the room and collected samples for investigation. The deceased’s mobile phone will also be sent for forensic examination and the call records will be examined. We will question all their friends to re-establish the sequence of the events that took place during June 12-13,” said a senior police official.
The deceased’s family members alleged that Arnav has been murdered by his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend and that they hanged the body to fake it as a suicide. The girl works in the same company as Arnav. She knew his family well but didn’t inform them about the incident.
“We got a call from the police at 6 pm, informing us to reach the police station immediately. There we were informed about the incident,” said a family member.
Suspecting foul play in the death of their son, the deceased’s father, Alok Duggal, met special commissioner of police P. Kamraj and demanded fair probe into the matter.
