NEW DELHI: The Delhi police is likely to launch an online campaign ‘Pathshala’ for children. It  will not only educate them but will also enable them to reach out to the desired channels if in distress.  This campaign will also highlight specific initiatives of Delhi police designed for children.

The campaign will feature varied aspects of Juvenile Justice such as definition of a juvenile, child rights & laws related to bonded labour, child labour, sexual harassment (Pocso), care & protection etc.

“Gone are the days when children only looked up to their elders or teachers to seek any kind of information. These days there are a number of sources, which can cater to their queries. However, given the wide scope of information sought and available avenues, there is an equal possibility of proliferation of misleading information especially, when it comes to the legal rights of children.  It is very important that they have a clear idea,” said a senior police official.

“We will have a dedicated Facebook page soon and it will also have the information related to drug abuse, children in distress, missing children. With this step,  the Delhi police will create awareness among the people. This page will have the components of the campaign such as campaign centric posts, daily updates, designed info graphics and one minute videos. There will be daily page management & monitoring. It will identify the groups, organisations & individuals working on child rights. There will be 4-5 one-minute videos (these will be created by another agency), weekly Facebook analytics and paid promotions.

The Delhi police is creating awareness among schoolchildren about the drawbacks of social networking sites. Moreover, they will also create awareness for women safety. The drive is going to be launched next week.
