Dropping sitting councillors BJP's acceptance of failure: AAP
New Delhi: With the BJP planning to field only fresh faces for MCD polls, the AAP on Thursday said the move implies that the party has accepted its failure in civic bodies.
AAP's Delhi unit convener Dilip Pandey alleged that the ruling BJP has made the civic bodies a "den of corruption".
"By its decision of not giving candidature to 153 sitting councillors, the BJP has accepted its failure in the MCDs and also that it has looted the civic bodies.”
"During its tenure the MCD came to be known as the Most Corrupt Department and also as M-Malaria, C-Chikungunya and D-Dengue," Pandey said.
In a bid to "infuse fresh blood" before upcoming municipal polls, Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday said that the party has decided to drop all its sitting councillors from the list of candidates.
The BJP has 153 councillors in the three civic bodies, namely North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), constituting 272 seats.
