Flyover mishap: Another teen dies, toll rises to four
New Delhi: One more student injured, in the Honda city accident in Punjabi Bagh area, succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning. Police say that the girl, Garima, was admitted to a private hospital. The condition of the others are still said to be critical. Family members of Garima would also donate her eyes on Wednesday.
Probe revealed that the youth driving the car had lost control while trying to save a group of cyclists after the car had started wobbling when its rear tyre came off. Family members say that if it was not for repeated refusals by autorickshaws, Garima would not have boarded the ill-fated car. Finally Garima had called Sanchit asking for a way out when they decided to return back and pick up the two girls from Inderpuri. Garima’s father Karan Gupta has a business selling utensils at a market in Inderpuri. The boys had already travelled half way towards Narela when Garima called Sanchit and asked them to return and pick them up. “While on his way back towards Narela, Rajat was speeding to reach quickly,” said a police officer. probing the case.
He had lost control of the vehicle when the tyre came off and it had swerved towards the left when he tried to avoid hitting some cyclist. Instead of hitting the concrete boundary, the car rammed through the railings over the railway line.
Police say that the remains of the car would be examined by a team of experts who would prepare a report on the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, police say that the other three victims are still said to be critical. They have been shifted to the ICUs for treatment.
