Government proposes flyovers at Shastri Park, Seelampur
New Delhi: The Expenditure and Finance Committee on Wednesday approved the construction of Shastri Park intersection and Seelampur, including the road improvement works in the area.
The construction of these flyovers will facilitate a signal-free corridor from ISBT to Shahadra.
The project is likely to be completed in 18 months and will take another six months for administrative approval and disbursal of funds.
“One flyover with each carriageway width of 10.5 metre at Shastri Park junction and one flyover with each carriageway width of seven metres at Seelampur are proposed. As per the proposal, the length of the flyover at Shastri Park junction is 700 metre, while the length of flyover at Seelampur Chowk is 1,200 metre.”
“The proposal also includes widening of existing underpass by three metres. It includes widening of Seelampur Chowk by providing free left turn towards Seeelampur which will help in decongestion of the Seelampur Chowk. There is also provision of two U-turns for going/coming from Seelampur,” it added.
The project will reduce travel time by 4.5 minutes and save 13,802 man hours per day equivalent to saving Rs 14 lakh per day. “The project will result in reduction of fuel consumption by 2,625 litres i.e. Rs 4.97 lakh per day. The benefit will overpass the cost of the project in four years after the construction,” officials said.
