Jain's sugar levels plunge, minister remains defiant

His weight on June 12 was 82.7 kg, while on Saturday he weighed 79 kg. His sugar level has it dipped to 47 units on Friday.

New Delhi: Health Minister Satyendar Jain’s sugar levels dipped further as his indefinite strike at the lieutenant-governor’s (L-G) office entered the fifth day on Saturday.

Mr Jain tweeted a copy of his health summary, which said the ketone level in urine had increased by a “large amount”.

“My reports. Ketones are increasing and blood sugar is constantly low. Lost 3.7 kg wt in 4 days. We will continue fighting for ppl of Delhi,” Mr Jain tweeted.

According to the health summary, Mr Jain’s weight on June 12 was 82.7 kg, while on Saturday he weighed 79 kg.His sugar level on Tuesday was 56 units (mg/dL) and it dipped to 47 units on Friday night. It reduced to to 40 units today. His blood pressure reading was 110/70.

On Friday, a team of medical specialists had examined Mr Jain and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who is also on an indefinite fast at the office of L-G Anil Baijal since Wednesday.

Both the ministers along side chief minister Arvind Kejriwal have been holding a sit-in at the L- office demanding that Mr Baijal direct IAS officers to end their “strike”.

The protesters also demand that the L-G approve the proposal for doorstep delivery of ration.
