Mentally ill woman, 21, raped inside repair shop
New Delhi: A 21-year-old mentally ill woman was confined and raped inside a cycle repair shop in New Sanjay Amar Colony area near Farsh Bazar on Sunday.
The accused, Prem, allegedly lured the woman into the shop when he found her sitting alone inside her house. Prem was later caught in an objectionable position with the woman after her relatives and neighbours barged into the shop after breaking open the main gate.
The incident took place on Sunday morning when the woman was alone at her house in Farsh Bazar.
Prem noticed that the survivor was alone inside the house and approached her. He allegedly lured her to his shop and raped her. When she tried to raise an alarm, he threatened her with dire consequences.
When her brother reached the house, the neighbours was informed him that they spotted his sister with Prem.
Later, her brother and the neighbours barged into the repair shop and found Prem in an objectionable position after which he was thrashed and handed over to the police.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
A police team was later deputed to the spot and the accused was arrested. Later, the woman was taken to a local hospital where it was confirmed that she was raped.
“The accused has been produced in a local court and the woman is currently being counseled,” said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahadra).
