New Delhi: Two employees of Anand Vihar toll plaza have been arrested by police on charges of attempt to culpable homicide and firing at Bal Gopal Bhojanalaya on April 14.

The police claimed to have cracked the case in 48 hours and arrested Ashu (22) and Amit (22).

According to DCP, Pankaj Kumar Singh, the quarrel took place near Mother Dairy where two persons demanding discount of food parcels at Bal Gopal restaurant in Mandawali resorted to firing.

On enquiry, the owner informed a person had come to his restaurant and placed an order for some food items from the restaurant. While taking delivery, he demanded a 50 per cent discount for food items.

This led to an altercation and the alleged person immediately contacted some of his associates who reached the spot and beat up the owner and his relatives who were at the counter.

Mr. Singh further said that the miscreants also broke the furniture and damaged the fridge and other items at the restaurant. One of the relatives received serious head injuries when one of the assailants struck him on the head with a steel chair and a helmet. Thereafter, the persons fled. When the accused persons were fleeing some public persons tried to stop them at which they fired three rounds in the air and escaped on motorcycles.

"A team under the supervision of ACP Mayur Vihar Sh. Shobhit Saksena was formed to apprehend the culprits. The staff of PS Mandawali analysed details such as the bike number, which the persons had used, CCTV footage and other details. Finally on April 16, a team led by SHO Mandawali Insp. Subhash Chandra and SI Rajeev and SI Raghuraj succeeded in apprehending two of the accused persons. The persons were immediately identified," said the senior officer.
