BJP fields new faces to head civic panels

Former Union minister Vijay Goel got the nomination of chairman for his loyalist in South and North Delhi Municipal Corporations.

New Delhi: In a significant development, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party at an eleventh hour decided to put up new faces for the post of the chairman of the standing committee of the party-ruled three civic bodies. The last day of filing of nomination for the post was Monday. Former Union minister Vijay Goel got the nomination of chairman for his loyalist in South and North Delhi Municipal Corporations. In another development, party general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal and former East Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Harshdeep Malhotra have been appointed convenor and co-convenor for BJP’s membership drive programme in the national capital.

Delhi BJP nominated its vice president Jai Prakash and Bhupender Gupta, both close aide of Mr Goel, for the chairman standing committee in North and South Corporation. Party nominated Sandeep Kapoor for the chairman, standing committee, East Delhi Municipal Corporation. Vipin Malhotra, Rajpal and Gurjeet Kaur were nominated for the post of deputy person of standing committee in North, South and East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
