Singhvi, a software engineer in Gurgaon, told the police that they had regular fights as there were compatibility issues between them.

New Delhi: The Delhi police will grill the in-laws of a female flight attendant, who allegedly committed suicide in South Delhi’s Panchsheel Park, after July 20, said the police on Tuesday.

Also, a Delhi court sent the husband, Mayank Singhvi, to two weeks’ judicial custody. Metropolitan magistrate Anuj Kumar sent Mayank to 14 days’ judicial remand after the Delhi police moved an application saying the accused was not required for custodial interrogation and he be sent to JC. The deceased, Anissia Batra (39), who worked with a German airline, allegedly jumped from the terrace of her house on Friday.

DCP (South) Romil Baaniya said Singhvi’s parents have been granted exemption from joining the probe by the court till July 20 on personal grounds. They will be questioned after that, he added.

According to the DCP, the victim’s parents told the magistrate that Anissia was harassed for dowry. Before taking the extreme step, the victim had sent a message to her husband saying that “he would see her dead face,” police said.

“We have seized the cell phones of the deceased and her husband and are checking the call records and messages,” police added.

Anissia’s family has claimed that she sold a flat in Vasant Vihar, which led to a lot of friction between the couple. The couple had been married for over two years.

Singhvi, a software engineer in Gurgaon, told the police that they had regular fights as there were “compatibility issues” between them.

Advocate Ishkaran Singh Bhandari, appearing for Anissia, urged the court that a look out notice be issued against Singhvi’s parents as they subjected the victim to a lot of atrocities and have not been arrested as yet.

The police told the court that they were doing the needful in that regard. Anissia’s family has alleged that her husband used to physically abuse her. The couple had been married for over two years and lived in Panchsheel Park.
