Collective effort by police helped trace CM car: L-G

‘Car not parked in proper site, had no safety lock’

New Delhi: Delhi lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday pointed that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s famous blue WagonR was parked 100 metres away from the designated parking site and had no safety gears in place. 

Mr Baijal, in a written communication to the CM, said that the due to Delhi police’s collective effort, the car which was stolen could be found in just two days. The L-G’s letter was in response to the CM’s communique’ after the theft of his car where he questioned the law and order situation in the national capital.

Post the incident, “CCTVs of the place of incident and border areas were scanned intensively. Intensive checking of parking places were carried out and all the Picket Staff  was put on alert and at last due to these integrated efforts, Delhi Police recovered the stolen Wagon R car within two days,” the L-G’s letter said.

The L-G further said that he regularly reviews the law and order situation of Delhi with the commissioner of police and senior officers and various decisions and steps have been taken in these review meetings to make the law and order machinery of Delhi more effective and public-oriented.

“The Delhi police is taking prompt and effective action in cases of motor vehicle thefts and due to their sincere efforts; Delhi police has arrested 3,252 auto lifters till September,” he said.
