Moti Bagh rape: CISF man held for sticker misuse
New Delhi: The CISF cop, whose son owned the car that was used by a driver to rape the 20-year-old woman in Moti Bagh, was arrested from his house at Kotla Mubarakpur in South Delhi for misusing the MHA sticker that was pasted on the windshield of the vehicle. The police say that they had received a complaint from the Krishi Bhavan that had issued the sticker following which an FIR was registered against the cop and his son.
Police officers say that a senior official from the ministry of agriculture had approached them with a complaint on Saturday in which the ministry said that head constable Omkar Singh Pawar was earlier posted with the ministry during which he was allotted the sticker. However, as per norms, he was supposed to remove it once his duty was shifted to the CGO complex. However, instead of removing the sticker, he had blackened the part mentioning the expiry date of the sticker. He had then removed the sticker from his own car and pasted in on the windshield of the Maruti SX4 owned by his son, Mohit Pawar, to travel without paying tolls or enter high security premises. Pawar used to run the private car as a cab in connivance with the driver accused of raping the 20-year-old survivor. He had hired the driver a week back.
It was found Pawar has been using the car to offer lift to commuters heading to the Shastri Bhavan or South Block, the sticker often gave him free access to enter the high-security premises. Following a query by the Delhi police, the CISF had initiated a probe to establish the source of the sticker during which it was found that it was Singh who has been misusing his position at the transport department of the force to gain access to the stickers.
“Cops say that Mohit had also not verified the antecedents of Avneesh before allowing him to drive his private car for commercial uses,” a police officer said.
