Govt not able to solve public issues: Vijender Gupta

He said the apathy of MLAs was clearly visible, during the discussion on foreign direct investment (FDI).

NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta on Thursday criticised Delhi government for its failure to solve any problems faced by tjhe people in its three-day session, which concluded on Wednesday.

Mr Gupta said that the proceedings were meaningless, as chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was conspicuous by his absence as if it were below his dignity to attend the Assembly.

“It is an insult that Mr Kejriwal doesn’t find even a minute for the House. Consequently, the House remained purposeless even as it took up important issues as sealing, deaths due to cold, night shelters and air pollution among others.

“The people wondered whether they had sent him to the Assembly with a thumping majority to only to neglect his duties towards the House. His lack of concern is highly condemnable,” said the BJP leader.

He said the apathy of MLAs was clearly visible, during the discussion on foreign direct investment (FDI). The MLAs had to be literally called through special messengers and phone calls. They were clearly not interested

“The Assembly session was specially called to discuss the on-going sealing in the city. But instead of providing relief, the government left no stone unturned in playing pwetty politics and misleading the businessmen.

The insensitive government failed to take any action with regard to notification of 351 roads. This has resulted in great disappointment to the hit shopowners and business houses,” he added.

Mr Gupta alleged that the message to the bureaucracy was that follows “our diktats or be ready to be done away with”. He added the ministers and MLAs almost blackmailed the senior officers into doing their whims and fancies.
