Man who donated' Rs 2 crore to AAP surfaces

Speaking to a news channel, the man admitted that he had donated Rs 2 crore in the form of demand drafts of Rs 50 lakh each in 2014.

New Delhi: Days after sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra accused the Aam Aadmi Party of receiving Rs 2 crore from shell companies, a man, identified a Mukesh Sharma, has come forward claiming that he had donated Rs 2 crore to the party as he thought the party will bring change in the political landscape.

Mr Sharma said that he had donated the amount in form of demand drafts of Rs 50 lakh each and that the company in question is owned by him. Mr Mishra, however, said that he will do another expose on chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday.

Speaking to a news channel, the man admitted that he had donated Rs 2 crore in the form of demand drafts of Rs 50 lakh each in 2014. The company from which the donations came is not bogus but is owned by him, the man claimed.

Mr Sharma, who is a resident of Ganga Vihar in northeast Delhi, said that he made donations in form of demand drafts. He said that he did not want to get embroiled in a political controversy and had therefore not come forward when the issue was raked up in media two years back.

Mr Sharma said that he has never known or met AAP chief Kejriwal and during the time of donations had just met the party’s secretary Pankaj Gupta and cashier Sanju. He said that he had made the donation as he had a firm belief that the AAP will do something good in politics.

Suspended AAP leader Mishra had accused the AAP of receiving donations worth Rs 2 crore from the bogus companies but the allegations could not have been confirmed, neither the companies could be found.
