Locket files plaint on Sovandeb for remarks on Roopa

A senior police officer said in the evening that Ms Chatterjee submitted a petition which is being probed.

Kolkata: BJP leader Locket Chatterjee on Tuesday lodged a complaint against Trinamul Congress minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay with the police for his alleged controversial comments against BJP Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly recently.

Accompanied by lawyer Debjit Sarkar she went to the Jorasanko police station in central Kolkata and lodged the complaint against Mr Chattopadhyay who is the state power minister. Later, Ms Chatterjee also demanded his arrest.

A senior police officer said in the evening that Ms Chatterjee submitted a petition which is being probed. Ms Chatterjee claimed that a Trinamul worker, Robi Shome, also uploaded an indecent post in a social networking site but he was not arrested by the police.

Last week, Ms Ganguly had claimed that those Trinamul followers who stay outside West Bengal and those who support the ruling party should send their female family members to the state to check if they were subjected to rape or not.

Countering her, Mr Chattopadhyay later questioned her claims about the crime of rape and if she ever faced such a crime which triggered a controversy.

He also sought Ms Ganguly to prove her grave allegations. Before lodging the complaint, Ms Chatterjee led a rally of BJP women wing workers from the state BJP headquarters to Central Avenue.
