Cops bust inter-state gang of robbers, carjackers
New Delhi: The Delhi police crime branch has claimed to bust an inter-state gang of robbers and carjackers and arrested one person in this regard, the police said on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as, Bittu Gulia resident of Jhajjar, Haryana. According to the police, on May 25, the complainant reported that three unknown persons abducted him and robbed over Rs 2 lakh from him on gunpoint and later dumped him in a field near Murad Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
They also threatened him and fired two rounds in the air from a pistol. Further they took away his ATM card, cash and Honda car.
DCP (Crime) Bhisham Singh said during scrutiny of the CCTV footage near the crime spot — ATM from where the cash was withdrawn and from the probable route taken by the criminals took.
A team under supervision of ACP Aditya Gautam was tasked to collect information about the gang of robber and carjackers.
The team on the basis of field and technical inputs zeroed in on a gang in Rohtak, Haryana, led by Ashok alias Doga and caught a gang member, Bittu. Accused Ashok had been convicted in a murder case. He had absconded during his parole, the police said.
