Cabbie robbed by 6 at gunpoint
New Delhi: A 35-year-old Ola cab driver was robbed by six robbers on gun and knife point in southeast Delhi’s New Friends Colony. Taking a note of the incident, the police have registered a case of robbery.
The driver Prashant Kumar (35), who hails from Bihar stated that on Friday night, he refulled his vehicle at a nearby CNG pump and was going towards Matura Road near New Friends Colony, when suddenly six persons on three bikes chased him and asked about directions, when he stopped one of the men came closer and immediately pulled out a knife and put it on his neck.
One of the accused put a knife on the neck and the other put it on the stomach and the third under the arm. The fourth criminal had a pistol. They ran away with a driver’s purse and two mobile phones. The accused even transferred money using Paytm app.
According to the Indian Penal Code (IPC), if more than 4 persons are involved in robbery then the case gets registered under dacoity under Section 395, which may extend to life imprisonment, but in this case despite the involvement of six armed robbers.
Police have registered a case under Section 382 of the IPC, which seems to be theft of arms by showing fear of arms. Further the police even manipulated the victim’s statement.
