DMRC launches special Diwali train
New Delhi: In its endeavour to spread the message of cleanliness and promote clean and green environment, the Delhi Metro on Wednesday launched a specially decorated train with slogans on ‘Swachchhta’ and greetings on the occasion of Diwali.
This decorated train was formally launched by Sharat Sharma, director (operations), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation at Udyog Vihar metro station.
Mr Sharma wrote the slogan — shor hai, na jam hai, Swachchhta ka Metro deti paigam hai’ to convey the importance of clean and green environment to the metro commuters on the eve of the festival of lights.
According to DMRC officials, this special six-coach train will keep operating on the Samyapur Badli to HUDA City Centre corridor with tastefully decorated exteriors to promote importance of cleanliness to inspire public, especially, youth and children.
“The exterior of this train has been exclusively decorated in colourful theme of nature, spirit of festivity and Diwali greetings. It also includes one-line messages to the public to provide a clean and green environment/future to their children by saying No to Firecrackers,” according to a DMRC spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the last metro train on Thursday will begin at 10 pm, from terminal stations of all lines of the network, in view of Diwali, the Metro corporation said on Wednesday.
The Delhi Metro said the train services will run as usual for the rest of the day, from 6:00 am onwards on all lines and from 4:45 am on the Airport Express Line.
On account of the festival of lights, the last metro train service on October 19 will start at 10 pm, the corporation officials said.
