Ludhiana-based doctor molested at railway station

According to the complaint, the lady doctor and her husband had boarded the train from Jaipur and were en route to Ludhiana.

New Delhi: A Ludhiana-based lady doctor was allegedly molested and an attempt was made to snatch her purse at Old Delhi Railway station. The woman was travelling in Puja Express along with her husband on November 4. However, after being made to run from Delhi police station to Ambala GRP, finally an FIR was registered in Ambala and transferred to Delhi on Saturday.

According to the complaint, the lady doctor and her husband had boarded the train from Jaipur and were en route to Ludhiana. The couple had boarded the train on November 4 and they were travelling in AC II coach. The train reached Old Delhi railway station late night at about 10 pm. The victim was sleeping on her birth when a miscreant entered the coach and allegedly touched her.

She also said in her plaint that the miscreant touched her few times before pulling her clothes in order to check whether she was awake or asleep. He then slowly touched her neck and tried to snatch her purse when she raised an alarm. The complainant’s husband too woke up and the miscreant was caught. When he tried to run away after pushing the woman, she allegedly caught and slapped him. A call was made to control room informing them about the incident, but by then the train had moved. Soon, two RPF personnel came to the coach and the victim gave a written plaint to them.

However, the drama began in the moving train when the Delhi police and Ambala police got involved over jurisdictional issue. The complainant said that when they dialled 100 from the moving train to register an FIR, the officials allegedly refused to register the same citing jurisdictional issue. They allegedly told her that the FIR should be registered at GRP.

When they said that they could not alight from the train, they were asked to get it done at Ambala. When the complainant spoke to the Ambala police, it stated the same reason.
