Con woman, who married' 11 men, held from Noida
Noida: The Noida and Kerala Police, in a joint raid, arrested a woman and her two accomplices for duping 11 people of several lakhs of rupees and jewellery after marrying them, from Sector 120 here on Sunday.
The case pertains to a complaint by Loren Justin, a resident of Kochi, Kerala, who had lodged a complaint against his wife, Megha Bhargav, in October, alleging that she disappeared with jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh after their marriage.
During the investigation, the Kerala Police found that Mr Justin was the fourth person in Kerala to be duped by Ms Bhargav. “She married four people in Kerala and duped them all,” police said on Sunday.
They added that in total, she married 11 people from Kerala, Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan and Indore.
The police found that while Ms Bhargav posed as an eligible bride, her real husband or companion Mahendra, who is still absconding, used to find a suitable groom for her. They both used to target rich people, who were either divorced or somehow not getting married.
Upon further probe, the police found out that her sister, Prachi, and brother-in-law, Devendra, also helped her in finding grooms. Elaborating about her modus operandi, cops said she used to spend 3-4 days at victim’s residence, after which she used to serve the food or drink laced with sedatives to the family members before ransacking the house and fleeing.
Dinesh Yadav, SP (city), said, “The woman was traced to a house in Amrapali Zodiac Society in Sector 120 here through electronic surveillance, following which we arrested her on Saturday evening.” Two of her accomplices have also been arrested
