Naval officer son's phone snatched, robbers arrested

The ERV staff had rushed to the robbery spot just after the incident and chased one accused and arrested him on spot.

New Delhi: Two offenders have been arrested by the sleuths of South-east Delhi Police in a swift action who on late Sunday night robbed a mobile phone from a son of Naval Commander in a park in Kalkaji.

The proactive police staff of Amar colony police station, which includes the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) staff, South East district has arrested Mohan Chander, 35 and Sumit, 19 and worked out a robbery case registered on Sunday night Under Sections 392/411/34 IPC, PS Amar Colony.

The ERV staff had rushed to the robbery spot just after the incident and chased one accused and arrested him on spot.

According to the police, on early Monday morning at around 1:30 am, complainant aged 19 years who is a Naval Commander’s son, along with his cousin sister was returning to their residence at East of Kailash, after attending a function held at Varuna Naval officer’s mess. The father of complainant is presently posted at Vizag while the complainant and his cousin sister are pursuing undergraduate professional course in Delhi.

Police further said that they left their cab near Sapna Park at East of Kailash and took a short cut through the park.

Inside the park, two men stopped and pushed them and robbed them of their mobile phones (01 from the complainant and 01 from his cousin sister) and fled.

The complainant came out of the park shaken and saw a patrolling Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) of Amar Colony police station nearby. Upon being informed the staff of ERV comprising of assistant sub inspector Ashok and HC Mahender immediately rushed to Sapna park and caught one of the fleeing robbers namely Mohan on the spot by chasing him and recovered one robbed OPPO mobile phone from him.
