Kejriwal should quit from CM post: BJP
NEW DELHI: Lauding the Election Commission’s reported recommendation to the president for disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs for allegedly holding office-of-profit, Delhi BJP on Friday said it is a ‘moral defeat’ for CM Arvind Kejriwal and he should resign.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed the Kejriwal government has become a lame duck. He cited corruption and criminal cases against the AAP MLAs to drive home the point that the party, which started its political journey from India Against Corruption has now transformed into ‘I am corruption’.
“The Constitution has shown the mirror to the AAP government, which had become arrogant due to its numerical strength in the Assembly. The AAP was heading towards becoming the “most corrupt” political party,” said Dr Patra.
He said “Fifteen of their MLAs have cases against them, while 12 were arrested under different charges. In this scenario, the question before the people is whether the government has any moral right to remain in power; most MLAs are embroiled in graft and other cases,” he added. Lauding the EC’s recommendation to President Ram Nath Kovind to disqualify 20 AAP MLAs for allegedly holding office-of-profit, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said Mr Kejriwal should take responsibility for the “moral defeat” and resign.
