CCTVs in capital are must for women's security: BJP
New Delhi: Reacting to AAP government’s reaction on lieutenant-governor (L-G) review of current status of CCTVs in the capital, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Thursday said that people want to see closed circuit television (CCTVs) cameras immediate installation for varied reasons, including women security, coordinated public transport or controlling corruption in public offices.
He pointed out that for the past one month, people of Delhi have simultaneously seen Mr Kejriwal apologising to leaders and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia giving unfounded statements with an intent to rake up a situation of constitutional conflict.
“The CCTV issue is not only related to public sentiment but is also a prime point of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s political agenda. Once in power, Mr Kejriwal seems to be avoiding working on it. Mr Sisodia’s reaction on the L-G taking lead in the matter is a reflection of his political desperation,” Mr Tiwari added.
Leader of opposition, Vijender Gupta condemned Mr Sisodia’s opposition to the proposal of installation of CCTV cameras for security purpose by the police. “The AAP had promised to install 15 lakh CCTV cameras. But it is regrettable that during over three years of its rule, it has failed to install even one.”
