5 die in 3 road accidents in Delhi within 24 hours

New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, five persons died in separate accidents in the national capital.

According to information, two of the accidents took place in Southeast Delhi. In one of those, three persons died after the auto they were travelling in toppled over in New Friends Colony area while an ITI student was crushed to death by a speeding DTC bus in Nizamuddin area. The third incident was reported in Northeast Delhi’s Harsh Vihar area, where a youth was mowed down by a tractor trolley.

Three persons died while one is said to be stable after the auto they were travelling in met with an accident in New Friends Colony area on late Thursday night. They were rushed to the Apollo hospital, where three of them were declared brought dead.

According to a senior police official, the trio deceased were identified as Ram Singh (40), Ashok (18), and Devrat Singh (25). They belonged to Rampur and Sambhal districts of UP.

It was also alleged that the auto was driven rashly and the driver was cleaning the windscreen due to which the auto lost control. The deceased sustained serious head injuries while the fourth injured is said to be stable. The accused driver, identified as Vijender, has been apprehended, DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said.

In another incident in the same district, a 22-year-old man, identified as Honey Meena, was crushed to death by a speeding DTC bus. He was a student of ITI, Arab Ki Sarai, who was crossing the road at the time of the incident.

DCP Biswal said that a PCR call was received at PS Hazrat Nizamuddin on Thursday regarding an accident at Bhogal Road.

At the spot, police found a DTC bus of Kalkaji Depot stranded on the road. The injured was sent to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared brought dead.
