New Delhi: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has strongly opposed the renaming of the Dyal Singh (Evening) College as Vande Mataram Mahavidyalaya and said that any move to rename it will be opposed tooth and nail.

In a meeting convened by general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the MLA of Delhi Assembly passed a resolution condemning the act of the governing body of the Dyal Singh (Evening) College and asked the body to withdraw their disputed proposal immediately saying the move would negate the legacy of the philanthropist.

Briefing the media after the meeting Mr Sirsa and Tarlochan Singh, the former chairman of National Minority Commission, said that the governing body of the trust is running this college and has conspired to usurp its land.

They further said that the governing body has taken an illegal decision as it had no power to rename the college.
