Woman kills sister for being close to boyfriend
New Delhi: Five days after a 25-year-old woman was found shot dead at her East Delhi home, the police has arrested her younger sister for the murder. The police said the accused killer was jealous of her sister speaking to her boyfriend and suspected that she was taking undue interest in him.
The 21-year-old woman lived with her parents, her older sister and 16-year-old brother in Northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area. Having divorced from her husband about three years ago, the victim lived at her parents’ home with her six-year-old son.
Her sister, meanwhile, was in a relationship with Rihan, a local youth. Rihan had allegedly recently left behind a country-made pistol at the woman’s home.
On last Wednesday, neighbours heard the gunshot from this family’s home. When people entered the house, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with a bullet in her chest. DCP A.K. Singla said the accused woman cooked up an entire story about the murder. She allegedly claimed that in the absence of her parents and brother, two unidentified men had entered the house while she was in another room and shot dead her sister.
However, the police found her description suspicious. They began to question the young woman. “During her interrogation, she confessed to murdering her sister,” said the DCP.
The police quoted the accused as claiming that she had warned her sister several times to keep away from her boyfriend, but she allegedly paid no heed.
An argument over this issue on Wednesday turned ugly when the accused woman pulled out the pistol hidden by her boyfriend and allegedly shot her sister in the chest.
She then allegedly called her friend, Abid, and handed over the weapon of offence to him. Abid as well the woman’s boyfriend continue to remain on the run.
