Mob thrashes Nigerian for assaulting cops, video viral
New Delhi: A 35-year-old Nigerian national was thrashed by locals for allegedly manhandling two traffic constables who had stopped him at Dwarka Mor for driving a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet. A video of the incident, which took place on Monday at around 10.45 am, has gone viral.
According to the police, two traffic constables, Ajay and Guarav, who were on duty, spotted the Nigerian namely Prince coming on his scooter without wearing helmet. He was intercepted and stopped by the cops and was asked to show documents of the vehicle and driving licence, but the Nigerian tried to forcefully escape from the spot without furnishing the documents, a senior police officer said.
While he was trying to flee, the cops caught hold of Prince who started arguing. He allegedly manhandled the two constables on the spot, the officer added.
The crowd, who was witnessing the entire episode, started thrashing Prince. The entire incident was recorded by a passerby, the video of which has become viral on social media, the officer said.
Meanwhile, the traffic cops informed the local police about the incident after which the Nigerian was taken to Mohan Garden police station where a case was registered based on the complaint of the traffic personnel. His documents including visa and passport are being verified and further action will be taken accordingly, the officials added.
