Delhi: Man objects to open urination, beaten to death
New Delhi: Close on the heels of the murder of an e-rickshaw driver, who was brutally beaten to death in North Delhi a few months ago, a 20-year-old youth was allegedly brutally bludgeoned to death on Thursday night in Harsh Vihar after he objected to open urination by a youth in a park.
According to the police, the deceased, who has been identified as Sandeep, runs a utensils business. The murder came to light on Friday morning after Sandeep’s body was found lying near Daya Nursing Home.
Preliminary probe reveals that on October 17, Sandeep had gone to visit his cousin’s house, following which he went to a park. While he was sitting in the park, a juvenile came near his bench and started to urinate. Sandeep objected and directed the young boy to urinate somewhere else. A verbal altercation ensued between them, following which locals came and pacified the matter. However, on Friday morning, Sandeep’s body was found lying on a footpath near the nursing home.
The murder came to light when locals informed the police, who rushed to the spot and carried out a probe. Police said that Sandeep was beaten with a brick wrapped in a cloth. The assailants attacked him with the brick on his chest and head. During investigation, when the police questioned Sandeep’s family members, they alleged that he had a scuffle with a juvenile over urinating in public. Though the matter was pacified then, the juvenile along with his associates, came back to avenge the deceased, added the police.
It further came to light that while Sandeep was going for a personal errand, the assailants allegedly stopped him. They then punched and kicked him. Subsequently, one of the assailants tied his legs and hands, brought a brick wrapped in cloth and bludgeoned him to death. Police has taken up the case along with the Crime Branch and FSL.
The Harsh Vihar police has arrested one person identified as Golu Khan in this connection who is said to have confessed to the crime. The teams are conducting raid in Delhi and NCR to nab the remaining accused in this connection. Sandeep’s body has been sent to GTB Hospital for post mortem.
