Arvind Kejriwal is like a mosquito: Meenakshi Lekhi
New Delhi: Reacting to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s comment that people would “risk” their children to vector-borne diseases if they voted for BJP in the civic polls, BJP Lok Sabha member Meenakshi Lekhi, without naming him, stated that such a thing can be said only by a man with a mosquito’s brain.
Mr Kejriwal said that “if someone in your home falls ill then you are responsible because you voted for the party which is synonymous to chikhungunya, malaria, dengue and garbage.”
Ms Lekhi attacked the Kejriwal government for spending funds on self-promotion instead of spending the money on efforts to make people aware of dengue and chinkungunya. “Such a thing can be said only by a man with a mosquito’s brain. His government spent '526 crore on publicity of his party and its leaders instead of telling people how to fight against dengue and chikungunya,” added Ms Lekhi.
Former CM and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit also criticised Mr Kejriwal’s comment. “As usual, he is passing the responsibility on others. Being the chief minister, he is supposed to facilitate the municipal corporations if they needed any help,” said Ms Dikshit.
Delhi BJP claimed that negative quotes and bite campaign carried out by Mr Kejriwal on issues such as electric outage, spread of chikungunya, and sanitation services, is reflective of his fear of defeat in Sunday’s civic election.
“In this election Arvind Kejriwal has tried all tricks from threatening the electorate with power tariff hike to creating fear of spread of diseases if BJP wins. But despite everything, BJP will win the elections,” the party said in a statement.
