Amit Shah sets social media agenda
New Delhi: Setting the agenda for the party's social media strategy for one year till next general election, BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said that social media volunteers must focus on spreading the Narendra Modi government’s achievements.
No false propaganda should be spread by the party sympathisers in the run up to 2019 general election, Mr Shah added.
The BJP president was interacting with more than 300 individuals, including party workers and common people, having more than 10,000 followers on social media in the capital.
Addressing the social media activists at New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Convention Centre, Mr Shah advised them to present the Central government’s achievements along with facts and comparison with the 70 years of work of the previous governments.
A reliable source present in the meeting told this newspaper that the BJP president also asked everyone present in the interaction to flood the social media with the achievements of the Modi government.
Mr Shah was clear that it should be accompanied with facts detailing how things have changed in the past 48 months comparing before 2014, he added.
"Mr Shah also said that since the achievements should be accompanied with facts and figures," he added.
Mr Shah also directed social media activists to spread their works offline by doing the same, spreading Modi government achievements, at the booth they reside.
A party leader present in the interaction said that Mr Shah advised that everyone must start working at the booth level apart from social media and form different groups of people from their polling booth in networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp.
"The instruction was clear, work online and offline to reach out the maximum number of people ahead of Lok Sabha polls," he added.
During his an hour-long speech, Mr Shah talked about various achievements of the Modi government in details with figures and asked those presents to spread the word among masses. “He (Mr Shah) also talked about electrification, mudra loan, ujjwala yojana and other flagship programmes of the Modi government," said a BJP insider.
Taking a jibe on Opposition unity, Mr Shah reportedly said that there is nothing to worry as opposition leaders fail to match the stature and popularity of PM Modi.
"Referring to the PM, Mr Shah said that “We (BJP) have an Arabian horse (Mr Modi), while the opposition leaders are “mules” and they cannot defeat us," a BJP insider added.
