New Delhi: A police head constable was allegedly brutally beaten with a cricket stump by the unruly parents of a 13-year-old minor boy when the man in khaki objected to the child playing recklessly on the street. The minor not only misbehaved with the policeman, but also allegedly abused him before his parents charged an attack.

According to the police, the injured head constable has been identified as Satyendra Singh, who lives in Baba Hardev Nagar and is in the third battalion. The incident took place on last Tuesday evening. In his plaint to the police, Mr Singh stated that his neighbour’s 13-year-old son, who is very naughty, was playing outside the house. The complainant was out on an evening stroll around 7.45 pm when he noticed the minor damaging the cars parked in the area.

He further stated that the minor was scratching the parked cars with a sharp object, thus damaging them. Mr Singh immediately walked up to the minor and asked him not to scratch the cars or play recklessly in the area. Upon being reprimanded, the minor allegedly started to misbehave with the head constable. When he was further checked by the latter, the minor allegedly hurled abuses at him. In a fit of rage, Mr Singh slapped the boy and asked him to behave properly.

The minor then went to his parents while Mr Singh went over to his own parking lot. He was engaged in some work when a little later the parents of the minor sneaked up from behind. They carried a wicket stump and charged an attack on the complainant. They allegedly brutally hurled severe blows on Mr Singh. He sustained deep and critical injuries on his head and as a result collapsed on the ground.

The incident came to light when passersby gathered upon hearing the commotion. They stopped the unruly parents. Meanwhile, a call was made to the police who visited the spot and moved the head constable to a nearby hospital.

Mr Singh is said to be out of danger and is admitted to a hospital. The Burari police has registered a case against the parents under Section 307 of the IPC and has ordered an inquiry into the same.
