New Delhi: It’s no child’s play to enter a police station with barracks lined up while offenders giving cold stares behind the bars. However, Friday morning was different. Instead of cold stares, warmth was all that was spread all over in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar police station.

The feeling of fear was taken over by loud chuckles and a brief picnic when the young guns visited the police station on Friday. It’s not the first time that one of the police station’s in South Delhi had young visitors, said additional deputy commissioner of police (South) Chinmay Biswal.

He further said, “Earlier also, children from school had visited the police stations. However, today’s experience was different as we had very young guests at one of our police stations at Malviya Nagar.

Over 20 children from the Maple Bear Canadian play school visited the police station along with four teachers.” The young children aged around three to four years visited the police compound, playing with the policemen while a few of them wore police caps and took to the seat of the station house officer.

The visit was organised to reduce the gap between the police and the public. It was aimed to help change the image of the force in the minds of the little children

“The children were enthralled visiting the police station. The errie  silence was broken amidst the fun and laughter when the children got pictures clicked with their heroes.

The children were also excited to see the station. Many showed enthusiasm to see  how a lock-up looks like and also demanded to see the bad man. A few of them even sat on the SHO chair and imitated them,” said a police official.
