1,941 fined for travelling in Metro ladies coach
New Delhi: Around 1,941 passengers were fined for travelling in coaches reserved for ladies in the Metro from January 1 to December 15 this year.
“It is observed that large numbers of male commuters are actually driven out daily from the coaches reserved for ladies,”said a senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official on the condition of anonymity.
“An offender is fined Rs 250 for travelling in the coach,” he added.
A total of 73 cases were attempted suicide were prevented by the alert CISF personnel in the Metro premises, he said.
Also, the CISF personnel identified around 18 people who were found carrying illegal arms with them in Metro premises.
According to the data provided by the CISF, which is responsible for the security of Delhi Metro network, the force has detained 35 pick pockets in January 2016. Of them, eight were males, while 27 were females.
In 2015, 267 pick pockets were detained by the CISF in which 21 were males and 246 were females.
However, till December 15 this year, the CISF have recovered five firearms from passengers travelling in Metro trains.
