Vijay Goel to lead sit-in opposing AAP govt

Aim is to highlight govt's inaction in Bawana tragedy.

NEW DELHI: Union MoS for statistics and programme implementation Vijay Goel will lead the sit-in protest on Monday against the Arvind Kejriwal government’s inaction in Bawana fire incident.

The BJP leader alleged that the Delhi government is only concerned about disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs in the office of profit case and has zero concern for Bawana fire victims.

Mr Goel claimed that the recent fire incident in a firecrackers unit in Bawana area that led to 17 people being burnt to death has evoked strong reactions in the city.

According to the BJP leader, without proper checks and balances, illegal factories cropped up across Delhi, including residential areas. “There’s nothing called industrial area as the entire capital has been transformed into industrial zone. The city is not only sitting on a pile of garbage but is also a ticking bomb, thanks to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘zero governance’ mantra,” he said.

The Union minister reiterated the fact that if steps were not taken in a time bound manner, the capital would regularly witness Bawana-like incidents coupled with loss of innocent lives.

Mr Goel said that the government has always backed off from discharging its duties and any incident concerning Delhi should be directly dealt with by the chief minister himself, but since he (Mr Kejriwal) believes in blame-game policy, his party seldom does the needful and engages in pointing fingers.

Mr Goel also urged the Bharatiya Janatra Party (BJP) volunteers to help the needy during situations like the Bawana fire incident.

Calling for Mr Kejriwal’s resignation, Mr Goel mentioned that a mass movement was required to bring the city back to normalcy as the AAP-led government has failed to provide all-round development to the masses.
