Yogi Adityanath directs govt to find alternative dump yard
New Delhi: In a big relief to the resident of Noida Sector 123, Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed the authorities to find an alternative ground fill for disposal of waste.
The Noida authority has stopped dumping garbage in Sector 123. The administration has also stopped the construction of dump yard in Noida Sector 123, adjoining Hindon river.
The Noida authority will now look for a an alternate site for the waste-to-energy plant (dump yard). On Thursday, hundreds of residents of Sector 123 and the adjoining areas performed yoga on the International Yoga Day at the dump yard construction site wearing Modi masks in order to highlight their problem.
On June 18, a resident group led by Union minister Mahesh Sharma had met Mr Adityanath and pressed their case.
He had then assured the Noida Sector 123 delegation that the dumping yard would be moved away and that the new site would not be in 2 km radius of the human population.
The dump yard site at Sector 123 is just 1755 metres from residential society Homes 121 and less than a km from the other side of Garhi Chaukhandi village.
