Delhi CM Kejriwal wants call centre for SC/St scholars
New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed officials to set up or hire a call centre for helping Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students or applicants for seeking SC/ST scholarships.
The decision was taken during a review meeting on Friday by Mr Kejriwal to take stock of the disbursements of SC/ST scholarships in Delhi. It was attended by the chief secretary and the secretary of the SC/ST department. The chief minister also asked the officials to ensure that SMSes and IVRs are sent to all applicants for the said scholarships. The call centres will be trained to execute the task in a flawless manner. They will be tasked with getting in touch with all applicants of the scholarship and solve their issues.
“A helpline number should be issued to the applicants to submit their complaints, if any, in getting the scholarships,” an official statement, quoting Mr Kejriwal said.
The CM also directed that all calls to the helpline be recorded and transcribed and that all grievances be resolved within 48 to 72 hours after the complaint is lodged. He expressed unhappiness over the delay in disbursal of SC/ST scholarships.
