Delhi: Six arrested for killing Congress leader's brother
New Delhi: The sleuths of Delhi police in a quick action arrested six persons for allegedly bludgeoning a 28-year-old man to death on Thursday night. The deceased was the brother of a Congress leader.
Investigation reveals that the deceased, identified as Rocky, had got involved in a verbal duel with the accused following which he (the accused) along with his associates bludgeoned him to death.
The arrested persons were identified as Pankaj Verma, 19, Rohit, 22, Koli, 25, Sonu Bansal, 20, Deepak, 21 and Dharmendra, 20.
According to the police, Mr Rocky had an unsavoury reputation in the area. Hailing from a political background and having connections, Mr Rocky used to threaten people. The deceased was residing in Hastsaal area with his family.
On Thursday evening, Mr Rocky got allegedly involved in a verbal duel with one of the accused. They left the place and returned around 9 pm along with two of his other friends.
First, the duo picked up a quarrel following which in a fit of rage, the accused grabbed Mr Rocky by his collar and dragged him to a nearby empty plot.
The associates of the accused then beat the deceased brutally and later bludegoened him to death and escaped from the spot.
The murder came to light when passersby noticed Mr Rocky’s body lying in pool of blood around 10.15 pm and informed the police.
A police team visited the spot and carried out a probe into the same. Based on the CCTV camera footage, the police nabbed the assailants who were planning to flee to Haridwar. All the six accused persons were arrested from different locations.
