SC transfers to NGT plea over Yamuna river pollution

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday transferred to the National Green Tribunal a 23-year-old PIL on pollution in River Yamuna.

A bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud said there cannot be two parallel jurisdictions to deal with the same issue.

It transferred the PIL, which was instituted after taking suo motu note of a news article published in an English daily on the state of pollution in Yamuna in NCR region.
