Students of AISA, ABVP clash in DU
New Delhi: Activists of Left-backed AlSA and RSS-affiliated ABVP allegedly clashed at Delhi University on Tuesday in presence of scores of policemen where counselling sessions on admissions to the varsity were taking place. AISA activists Dhanpal Singh, a student of Ramjas College, Rajeev Kumar from Shivaji College and Sujit Chandravanshi from department of east Asian studies, alleged the ABVP activists attacked them in the morning when they were distributing pamphlets containing useful information for aspirants.
Although a complaint has been filed at Maurice Nagar police station against the matter by both the student organisations, but no FIR was registered. “It was around that time when Dusu president Amit Tanwar and Ram Kumar of ABVP along with 8-10 others came and surrounded me and my friend Rajeev. They tortured me mentally in presence of the police hurling abuses at us. They took our pamphlets and tore all of them. On being asked they pushed me and said not to ever come at the same spot else they will kill us. The most saddening part is that the entire incident happened in front of the police,” Dhanpal said.
However, the Dusu president had a different version of what happened. “Three AISA activists teased a girl on the campus. We caught hold of one and warned him while others escaped,” he said.
