The complainant, a senior woman crew member, said some passengers misbehaved, threatened and assaulted her.

New Delhi: Five foreigners have been booked for allegedly misbehaving with Air India cabin crew onboard the national carrier’s city-bound flight from Sydney, the police said on Wednesday.

The complaint was filed after the flight landed at the IGI Airport on Tuesday evening, said a senior police official. “A PCR call was received at the IGIA police station regarding a quarrel. On inquiry, the complainant, a senior woman crew member of Air India, alleged that some passengers misbehaved, threatened and assaulted her when the flight was on its way to Delhi from Sydney,” said a senior police official.

Of the five passengers against whom the complaint was filed, three are Australian nationals while one each are from New Zealand and Italy, the police official said. Accordingly, action under Rule 22 of Aircraft Act has been taken against these five foreign nationals, he added.

According to sources, on Tuesday at about 7.40 pm, a lady, who is a senior cabin crew of flight number AI301 bound from Sydney to Delhi, made a call against a couple (Australian nationals) for allegedly misbehaving with her. The said couple reportedly threw crockery items at her on board the flight over some issue. When the cabin crew tried to calm them down, they pushed them. On arrival of the flight, airline staff requested for security assistance. Later, the said couple and three others foreigners were taken to Terminal 2 police station and were handed over to Delhi police for further course of action. Sources further said that the other three foreigners were under the influences of alcohol and created a scene in the flight.

Sources said that the foreign nationals were later released on a surety and bond after the intervention of their respective embassies in New Delhi.
