BJP meet failed on graft agenda, say party leaders

Members of the Delhi BJP executive also raised question over the way the meeting was conducted.

New Delhi: A majority of Delhi BJP executive members have expressed unhappiness over the conduct of party’s state executive meet that concluded on Tuesday.

With no mention of AAP government’s failure and demand for chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, the BJP resolution was a sham, said some BJP leaders. Further the resolution was silent on a series of allegations levelled by former Delhi minister Kapil Mishra against Mr Kejriwal and his team.

Members of the Delhi BJP executive also raised question over the way the meeting was conducted. They told this newspaper that the whole event was a glaring example of mismanagement and goof ups, violating rules and practices set by the party and its Constitution.

“Nothing has followed from the time meeting was called or way the members were informed. Even the agenda of meeting was not provided to the members a day before. We came to know about the agenda just before start of the meeting,” they said.

Majority of members also questioned the content of political resolution adopted by the party. They saffron leaders said that instead of only condemning corruption and misrule of Kejriwal government, the party should had took strong stand and had made it a part of political resolution. Some also pointed that the party has also failed to judge the importance of allegations of corruption made by Mr Mishra against Mr Kejriwal and other AAP leaders.

“Mr Mishra’s allegation is a serious issue and every day he came out new charges against Mr Kejriwal and other AAP leaders, but the party leadership has failed to judge its political importance in current scenario,” they added.

Members claimed that report containing party activities since last executive meeting held in January also not tabled. “It was practice to table a report containing details on action on decision taken in the last meeting, but that report was not tabled or future plan and activities of party were also not discussed. In the absence of state general secretary (organisation) Sidharthan, three other general secretaries had mismanaged the meet, which failed to solve the purpose,” they said.
