Supplier of arms to Naxalites arrested
New Delhi: A 55-year-old man, suspected to be an arms peddler for Naxals, was arrested at Shanti Nagar on Ring Road on July 12. Then accused has been identified as Ram Krishna Singh.
About 407 illegal cartridges comprising 60 cartridges of Indian Small Arms System (INSAS), 107 Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) cartridges, 80 cartridges of .315 calibre and 160 cartridges of 7.65 calibre were recovered from Singh.
The police received information that a group of Bihar and western UP criminals supply cartridges of prohibited bore to Naxals in Garhchiroli and other areas of Maharashtra, P.S. Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell) said.
Special Cell personnel was tasked to apprehend the suspects. On May 24, a gun runner, Dhirender, was nabbed and a pistol and 95 cartridges were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, he disclosed that he used to supply cartridges to Naxals in Garhchiroli. Till date, Singh has supplied more than 15,000 cartridges to Naxals in Garhchiroli, the DCP said.
