Filling up posts, e-trading top priority of AAP government

Proposal for regularisation of guest teachers has already been approved.

New Delhi: Filling up vacant posts in all departments, timely payment to contractual employees, implementation of Aadhaar-based direct benefit transfer scheme, electronic trading in mandis, and opening of an escrow account from where money can be distributed to corporations and road laying agencies are among the key initiatives that are being accorded top priority by the AAP government in the national capital. A decision has also been taken to provide multi-lingual content on all the city government websites.

At a recent high level meeting, outgoing chief secretary K.K. Sharma directed his officials to formulate a scheme to fill up all vacant posts in their respective departments. He has directed the services department to provide guidance for framing schemes to regularise the contractual workers in different departments while harmonising various court judgements and government orders .The principal secretary of the general administration department (GAD) made it clear that the Cabinet decisions related to the regularisation of contractual workers were not in conflict with the norms laid down by the Supreme Court. The education secretary said that a proposal for regularisation of guest teachers had already been approved by the city Cabinet. Even lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung has agreed to relax the age for Group C posts for a maximum of five years with certain conditions.

As far as payments to contractual workers are concerned, the officers have been directed to send their monthly reports latest by 20th of every month to the chief secretary’s office.

The GAD secretary said that strict implementation was required to implement the circulars that have been issued by the finance and IT departments regarding the advance payments and simplification of procedures for engaging contractual workers and expediting their payments. Mr Sharma has directed the officers to fast-track cent per cent implementation of direct benefit transfer of both Central and state government schemes. He, however, expressed his disappointment over the delay in the implementation of biometric-based distribution of food grains through PDS.
