Delhi BJP chief to hold chai pe charcha' at slum clusters

Twirai has spent three nights in three different slum clusters and one night in a village.

New Delhi: In an attempt to reach out to a maximum number of slum clusters and villages before the upcoming civic polls, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari strategically tweaked his ongoing night stay campaign in these areas.

From now onward, Mr Tiwari will spend around an hour in different slum clusters and villages and hold “chai pe charcha” on the problems faced by the residents.

Till now, Mr Twirai has spent three nights in three different slum clusters and one night in a village. People from different slum clusters have approached Mr Tiwari, requesting him to visit their areas so that the pathetic condition of slums and villages can be brought to the notice of the Delhi government. Mr Tiwari told this newspaper that a large number of people have requested him to visit their areas, as they felt that after his visit, conditions will improve in the localities.

“Lots of slum dwellers and villagers, who are living in hellish condition in the national capital, have approached me through phone calls, messages or in person and requested me to spend some time in their respective areas so that they can highlight their problems,” said Mr Tiwari.

As per the earlier plan, Mr Tiwari is supposed to stay a night in a slum cluster and village in each of seven parliamentary constituencies. Now, with large number of request from people to visit their areas, Mr Tiwari has decided to spent at least an hour and discuss their problems over a cup of tea.

“During a one hour visit, we can hold ‘chai pe charcha’ or discussion over morning breakfast, lunch or dinner. And I personally will be able to visit a large number of slum clusters and villages,” added Mr Tiwari.

Mr Tiwari clarified that the “Night stay campaign” for reality check will continue as planned.
